On December 15 2014, the Lindt cafe in Martin Place, Sydney, was under siege by a gunman who was allegedly a terrorist. During the incident, two of the hostages were critically injured. They were proclaimed heroes.
For days following the event, people from all walks of life visited Martin Places and laid down flowers in memory of the victims. Here is the scene as seen by me a couple of days after the incident.
I feel that black and white images captured the mood of the scene much better.
